A Heartfelt Meeting and a Vision Revisited
While presenting the expansion roadmap of Burjeel Medical City, Dr. Shamsheer shared memories of an earlier meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan when the medical city project was still in its conceptual stage. He recalled discussing the vision with the UAE leader years ago and said the upcoming expansion represents the continuation of that ambitious dream.
Spread across 387,000 square metres, the new development aims to transform Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi into a world-class healthcare destination.
The next phase of Burjeel Medical City will feature advanced facilities integrating cancer care, medical research, and education. The project is designed to ensure that both UAE nationals and expatriates can access complex and specialised treatments locally without the need to travel abroad.

In addition, a new Dh100 million initiative was launched in the field of advanced genetic therapies for rare blood disorders. The platform aims to develop and manufacture such innovative treatments within the UAE itself.
According to the group, these initiatives will further support the UAE’s national vision of becoming a global hub for healthcare innovation.
