Dubai,TNM:Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called on citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag above their homes and buildings as a symbol of national unity, pride, and resilience.
The call comes in the wake of recent regional tensions, including missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran, which the UAE successfully countered through its advanced defence systems. In a message shared on social media, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the UAE flag represents strength, unity, and collective pride.
“The UAE flag is a symbol of strength and pride. We call on the sons of the Emirates and its residents to fly it above their homes, centres and buildings,” he said. He further highlighted the nation’s solidarity, stating that the country emerged from the crisis “even more united, cohesive and loyal.”
Sheikh Mohammed also expressed pride in the country’s leadership under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as its military strength, economic stability, and the contributions of both citizens and residents.
Later on Thursday, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan echoed the sentiment by sharing a line from the UAE national anthem on social media, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism and unity.
According to official figures, the UAE’s air defence systems have intercepted 537 ballistic missiles, 26 cruise missiles, and 2,256 drones since the escalation began on February 28, underscoring the scale of the threat faced by the nation.
The call to raise the national flag follows a recent diplomatic breakthrough, as the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week pause in hostilities after negotiations mediated by Pakistan.
The initiative is being seen as a powerful gesture to reinforce unity and national identity, with the UAE leadership urging everyone in the country to stand together under one flag during challenging times.
