Dubai,TNM:  Dakshin Sooraj, an eight-year-old prodigy, has etched his name in the India Book of Records by recalling the flags and capitals of 153 countries in just 8 minutes and 34 seconds. Hailing from Kavanad, Kollam, Dakshin is the son of  Sooraj and Ashwathi and is currently a second-grade student at Ajman Metro Politan International School.

Dakshin displayed an exceptional interest in learning from a very young age. At six, he first encountered various national flags on a recharge machine in the UAE, sparking his curiosity. His inquisitiveness led him to explore and memorize country flags through YouTube videos and books. Once he mastered the flags, he then shifted his focus to learning the capitals of these nations.

With an innate thirst for knowledge and the encouragement of his parents, Dakshin quickly grasped this extensive information. His remarkable memory and dedication helped him achieve this record-breaking feat.  Sooraj and Ashwathi have now applied for the Guinness World Records to recognize their son’s extraordinary memory skills.

Dakshin receives immense support from his school in nurturing his interests. His curiosity continues to grow, and he is now keen on understanding climate patterns. His parents, proud of his achievements, are committed to providing him with the right opportunities to explore his passions. "We aim to support his interests and help him grow in the best possible way," say  Sooraj and Ashwathi.
